Blessed with natural biodiversity and cultural heritage, Sarawak has been identified as a prime area to boosts the state and country’s economy by the Malaysia Government. Our aim in this project is to attract more tourists to Sarawak to further boost’s the state’s economy. Both primary and secondary research was conducted to have an in-depth understanding of tourists’ demand and expectations of Sarawak. The primary research was conducted through survey and face-to-face-interview. The secondary data was obtained from official report, online news and travelogues. Furthermore, PESTE and SWOT analysis frameworks were employed to enable us to have a better understanding of the internal and externals environments of Sarawak as a tourism destination. From the research findings, majority of survey respondents preferred Sarawak due to its cost efficiency and majority of the travelers are from the low income category who preferred means of travel is by air. In addition, the travelers usually head to Sarawak over the weekend for its festivals. However, high competition is face by Sarawak in terms of attracting tourist. To reduce the fear more business activates should be generated which would overall increase the efficiency and would result in the higher GDP growth.
